Original Title Idea
Our original idea for the title of our film was 'Insanity'. This was to reflect that the main character in our film- the killer- was mentally unstable. However, we had to change the plot and storyline as we were originally going to make the film in a location of a mental institution but we did not have the correct facilities and access to this sort of location. We therefore decided that we would change the storyline so that the killer was a hospital patient and being so close to death turned him into a brutal killer.
This title didn't really bring the correct atmosphere that a horror film should do because it wasn't really playing on the aspect of suspense and the unknown and it would have gave the whole original storyline away.

Our Final Title
After changing the storyline we decided that the title of our film should be 'Subject 12'. This was because we felt that 'Subject 12' was a much more appealing and attractive title for the audience. It is also better suited to a horror film than the previous title choices. We also felt that this title reflects the final opening title sequence better than the other choices we had and believe that it gives the director, writers and producers more directions that the film can go in.
Example of Effective Titles
An example of an effective horror film title would be 'Child's Play'.This is because the title contradicts the whole perception of what horror actually is. It does this because it makes the audience think about their past memories as a child when they used to have fun but this helps to make people feel uncomfortable when it is associated as a horror film.
